Needed Launches Prenatal Multivitamin Gummy

The supplement was clinically studied against a standard prenatal, and was shown to prevent nutrient shortfalls that occurred in pregnant women taking Needed's product.

Needed, a practitioner-grade women’s supplement company, launched its Prenatal Multivitamin Gummy, a clinically studied formula.

The company reported that 95% of women taking standard prenatals still don’t get adequate intake of all nutrients. With gummy prenatals, the nutrition gap is even wider because of limitations associated with the dosage format. Needed’s product development team spent over four years developing this innovative new gummy multivitamin containing nutrient dosages at levels significantly higher than leading prenatal gummies and other prenatal supplement formats.

“Prenatal gummies have historically been under-dosed. The gummy matrix creates real formulation constraints on how much nutrition and which nutrients you can deliver while maintaining stability, taste, and texture,” said Ryan Woodbury, co-founder of Needed. “For years, that’s forced women to choose between a prenatal they actually enjoy taking and one that delivers meaningful nutrition. We spent four years pushing the limits of what’s possible in a gummy. This gummy changes that trade-off.”

In an IRB-approved clinical study of 235 pregnant women, those taking a standard prenatal fell short in four key nutrients: vitamin D, vitamin B6, selenium, and zinc; nutrients that play essential roles in fetal development, immune health, and supporting a full-term birth. Women taking Needed’s Prenatal Multi Pro did not fall short in the observational cross-sectional analysis of blood nutrient levels, the company reported.

The findings shaped which nutrients Needed prioritizes across its prenatal line, including its new Prenatal Multivitamin Gummy, which carries through those same clinically studied doses of methylfolate, vitamin B6, and D, plus meaningful dosages of 14 other key nutrients, delivered in a three-gummy serving.

Each serving includes 920 mcg DFE Methylfolate, 100 mcg (4,000 IU) Vitamin D3, 40 mg Vitamin B6, 75 mcg Vitamin B12, 70 mcg Selenium, 6.5 mg Zinc, and 55 mg Choline, among other key nutrients.

Now available in Orange Pineapple Passionfruit and Strawberry Banana, the gummy contains no synthetic dyes, synthetic food coloring, artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohol, high fructose corn syrup, or gelatin.

The new gummy joins the brand’s other prenatal supplements, including Prenatal Multi capsules, Prenatal Multi Powder, and Prenatal Multi Pro.

“Pregnancy is the single most nutritionally demanding season of a woman’s life, and it doesn’t come with one right way to get through it,” said Julie Sawaya, co-founder of Needed. “Some women need a capsule. Some need a powder. Some need something they can handle on the days nothing else stays down. That’s why we built three formats, all with radically better standards than the other prenatal options on the shelf.”
